  18.           BOOT.SYS is  not free! You  may try it  out at  no charge for  an
  19.           initial trial period to  determine if it fits your needs.  If you
  20.           want to continue  using BOOT.SYS after  the initial trial  period
  21.           you must register. This method of software  distribution is known
  22.           as Shareware.
  23.  
  24.           The registration fee for a single copy of BOOT.SYS  is SFR 70.- +
  25.           s&h (exchange rate US$ to  Swiss Francs is about $0.63 =  SFR 1.-
  26.           (July 1991)) for registration  with the author in  Switzerland or
  27.           $39 US + s&h for registration with PsL in the U.S.A.
  28.  
  29.           Payment of the single-copy  registration fee entitles you  to the
  30.           following benefits:
  31.  
  32.             * A disk with the current version of BOOT.SYS
  33.  
  34.             * A printed and bound manual
  35.  
  36.             * A special utility program that lets you transfer your license
  37.               to any  later shareware  versions  of BOOT.SYS  that you  may
  38.               obtain from any shareware source (getting an upgrade from the
  39.               author requires new registration).
  40.  
  41.             * Free support (by electronic  mail or by mail)  for  the first
  42.               90 days after payment, consisting of  answering questions and
  43.               fixing any  reproducible program  error(s) that  interfere(s)
  44.               with the  intended use  of the  program as  outlined in  this
  45.               documentation. The  author  may choose  not  to fix  problems
  46.               related to a  special hardware and/or  software configuration
  47.               and will then arrange  for a refund of the  registration fee,
  48.               if the  problem is reported  within 90  days of payment.  The
  49.               author makes no  other warranties, expressed or  implied, and
  50.               this warranty is expressly limited to the cost  of the regis-
  51.               tration fee.

  53.             * BOOT.SYS is publicly supported on CompuServe in  the DOS Uti-
  54.               lities section of the IBMSYS forum. A  free CompuServe Intro-
  55.               Pak, which includes  a $15.00 usage  credit, is available  to
  56.               registered  BOOT.SYS  users  who  do  not  yet  subscribe  to
  57.               CompuServe. CompuServe  will open  the door for  a whole  new
  58.               world of information, services, and  interesting people. Com-
  59.               puServe is also  the best place  to obtain technical  support
  60.               for products from Hans Salvisberg (and  many other developers
  61.               and vendors).  The CompuServe  IntroPak (a  $39.95 value)  is
  62.               provided to registered  BOOT.SYS users compliments  of Compu-
  63.               Serve, Inc., and Hans Salvisberg. This offer  is dependent on
  64.               its continued availability from CompuServe, Inc.
  65.               For your information: Current CompuServe rates are $12.50 per
  66.               connect hour plus communications surcharges (e.g., $0.30/hour
  67.               in the U.S.A., $9.50/hour in Switzerland and the United King-
  68.               dom, varying rates in other countries).

  72.           BOOT.SYS must  be registered before  it is  used in a  commercial
  73.           (business, corporate, government, educational, or  other institu-
  74.           tional) environment beyond initial evaluation or on more than one
  75.           computer.

  77.           There are no  quantity discounts available for  BOOT.SYS, because
  78.           it does not  make sense to purchase  a large number  of single-PC
  79.           licenses. However, site licenses for installing  BOOT.SYS on mul-
  80.           tiple computers are available starting at 2 PCs.  Please refer to
  81.           the accompanying file SITELICE.DOC for details.

  83.           You have several choices for registering:
  84.  
  85.             - With the author in Switzerland at SFR 70.- + s&h: All payment
  86.               must be  done in Swiss  Francs. The  easiest way to  transfer
  87.               funds is by credit card. You authorize us to charge your card
  88.               for the amount  due in SFR and  the credit card  company will
  89.               automatically  convert to  your  currency using  the  current
  90.               exchange rate. We cannot guarantee a fixed exchange rate or a
  91.               certain date for the  conversion to take place, but  based on
  92.               our experience the exchange rates do not vary rapidly.
  93.               Alternatively you may send  us a postal money order  in Swiss
  94.               Francs (your local post office does the currency conversion).

  96.             - With Public software Library  in the U.S.A. at $39 +  $4 s&h.
